The MK1.6 Fuzz - Silicon Edition. These pedals are currently sold out. Please join the mailing list for updates on the next release. Germanium Edition is available here.
This listing of the MK1.6 Fuzz is the Silicon version featuring a first-class pair of NOS Silicon transistors - your choice of BC108, BC109 or BC209 devices.
Transistor Tasting Notes:
- BC108 Silicon (med gain) – wonderful transistors and our go to selection classic Silicon fuzz tones. Bright chiming cleanup, big fat tones when dimed.
- BC109 Silicon (higher gain) – very similar across the range to the BC108 above with more saturation and compression at top end of the dial. These are the transistors in Mick from That Pedal Show's MK1.6 Fuzz, which he's recently been using on his personal board for live gigs.
- BC209 Silicon (highest gain) – huge fuzz tones, saturated and compressed. Crunchy in lower gain settings. Cleans up great but not as much as the versions above.
There's a huge range of tones available at your fingertips from sparkling cleans, through tube-like overdrive to fully saturated in your face fuzz. If you were only after one fuzz pedal, the MK1.6 Fuzz is the one to go for.
The MK 1.6 Fuzz is a hand-crafted pedal based on classic fuzz circuits of the mid-60s. The closest ancestors are the fabled 'MK 1.5' Tone Bender and Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face. This model includes a few added touches to enhance playability in the modern world.
The circuit is built upon a precision etched board with the highest quality components and an obsessive attention to detail. This version comes standard with a DC input jack (9v, tip negative) and LED indicator - there is also an internal 9v battery (included).
Each pedal is built by hand, one at a time, and individually voiced to optimise its specially selected pair of transistors. This means no two pedals are exactly the same - they all have unique attributes and components are chosen to enhance the sonic qualities of each circuit.
The controls are simple but highly effective - 'Attack' dials up the fuzz and 'Level' sets the overall output of the effect, which ranges from soft to sonic destruction. The MK 1.6 is designed to provide a high level of output when desired and is capable of a significant volume boost - this fuzz will not disappear in the mix when engaged.
Raising the level also hits the input of your amp harder and interacts with preamp stages to produce beautiful overtones and a wide range of overdrive and distortion tones through to raging fuzz. The pedal provides a vast tonal palette to play with and subtle changes in pick attack and tweaks to your guitar's volume and tone controls offer up unlimited avenues for expression.
The Gain Mode switch provides three separate gain settings for the pedal. Low is a boost setting with Med and High progressively adding more gain and fuzz. Lower gain is also a tad brighter, high is fat and juicy. Each setting imparts its own special character and greatly adds to the versatility of the pedal in response to different musical situations, guitars, amps etc. Wherever you set it, be prepared for scintillating boosted fuzz tones!
All pedals come complete with a custom carry bag, signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and instruction card.

Reviews
This one is a special, fantastic sounding fuzz. Great cleanup and slick, roaring fuzz. One of my faves!
I love this pedal. It has become a mainstay on my board. It is a fuzz pedal but it works great as an overdrive for those who don't typically like IC based overdrives. That said, if you want this pedal to do fuzz it is more than capable. In high gain mode I've paired it with a phaser and become Ernie Isley. Its got its own sound such that on a board with a fuzz face and a big muff it isn't a redundancy. Mostly I use in in mid gain mode. With the attack set at about 10 o'clock in mid gain mode it becomes the overdrive that isn't an overdrive. I often feel Ic/chip based overdrives color my tone too much. In mid gain mode this pedal to my ears is the perfect transistor based overdrive. It doesn't sound like a pedal but more like an amp turned up. The sound is natural yet unlike many fuzz's its still tight. The note definition while playing a chord is still there. It stacks fantastic with others. I have nothing bad to say about it. Its also straight beautiful in its design.
The the broad palate of throughout first-class refined tones, versatility (serving as clean boost or even always-on tone enhancer), super inspiring huge dynamic range and touch responsiveness allowing access to a wide range of sounds just by using the pick attack and guitars volume knob, paired with an astonishing ultra low noise level in any pedal setting are just some of it’s unique attributes unlikely found in a Fuzz. Tim’s holistic perfectionistic approach, passion and attention right down to the tiniest detail are prominent in the entire package. Paying tribute to the New Zealand origin the careful packaging exclusively consists of high quality natural (paper) padding material reflecting the Country’s heritage living in close touch with nature - no plastic to be found anywhere. From the sonic finesse, craftsmanship extraordinaire, timeless classy finishes, CoA, manual the handmade pedal bag. This is a Fuzz for life and built to last way beyond just one. Thank you so very much Tim!
Have played numerous fuzz pedals that are out there and this is easily my favorite. If you’re a fuzz lover, this is it for you!
Another excellent fuzz pedal made by Tim. I have both an Si and Ge version. Both are fantastic, built well, quiet and clean up really nicely.
The build quality of this pedal is astounding! I play low wattage amps (Fender Princeton '62, and Hiwatt Custom 20) Fuzz on these amps can sometimes be a little bit of a struggle for me - I have tried many different fuzz pedals. This pedal gives me a great fuzz tone that I have chasing. I find the low-gain setting the most suitable. Tim has sent emails to check in with me to see how things have been going with the fuzz...that's what I call fantastic after sale service. Thanks very much Tim!
I have many fuzzes but the MK1.6 has surprised me for its versatility, it sounds excellent with any guitar and any amp, and the gain mode switch allows you to find the right sound. It also solves the problem of vintage fuzzes by having a large amount of volume available so you don't get lost in the mix.
Along with that, Tim is one of the nicest builders I've ever interacted with. You won't regret getting one!
This pedal is more than a fuzz with the three modes of gain low medium high you can use with any guitar 🎸 or amp combination and conjure up great TONES roll off the guitar volume and the magic begins from clean boost to rich smooth overdriven sustain, with outstanding build quality I use this pedal through a Marshall 50w plexi with a strat and les paul I couldn't be happier with this pedal, thanks again for the #66 pedal respectfully 🙏 Daniel
